  16. of a heart attack; in Madison, Wisconsin. The amiably combative
  17. Knoll spent 21 years at the helm of the proudly left-wing but
  18. nondoctrinaire monthly, frequently appearing as a commentator
  19. on the MacNeil/Lehrer News-Hour. An evangelist for the First
  20. Amendment, Knoll crossed swords with the Federal Government
  21. when he sought to demonstrate, by publishing some of the information,
  22. how easy it would be to build an H-bomb from unclassified sources.
  23. The U.S. obtained a restraining order against the Progressive
  24. but dropped the case when the facts appeared elsewhere. Knoll
  25. ran his article.
